Now We Rise

We have been so afraid of ourselves

because we are so

incredibly powerful.

and so much power,

we thought,

could not be trusted.

but that is because we did not know

how wild and majestic a woman is.

we did not see that we were naked

of our glory

and once we tasted the fruit

our eyes were opened

we would not shut up

except we had been deceived

into believing that our place was to crawl

on our bellies and eat dust

the rest of our days.

we believed we were

the stumbling block

that must be domesticated.

controlled.

AND NOW WE RISE.

shedding the skins of old,

we will be the snake

held up in the desert

for all to see.

what was once believed

to be evil

will heal the world.
